Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco has joined Toronto FC earlier than expected with the Italian club on Monday announcing his departure to Major League Soccer.
The 28-year-old has moved to the Canadian outfit ahead of the start of the MLS season in March.
Giovinco, who has won 21 caps for Italy, made his last appearance for Juve as a late substitute against Hellas Verona on January 18.
A statement from Juve read: "Giovinco leaves Juventus after a long adventure with the club lasting 19 years.
"Now the doors of the MLS open up for him.
"He will face a new professional and personal adventure with the Toronto FC jersey.
"From all of us our most sincere wishes for his new challenge."
Turin-born Giovinco was a product of Juve's youth system and broke into the first team in 2006.
Giovinco, known as the 'Atomic Ant' because of his speed and diminutive stature, was part of the Juve side that won back-to-back Serie A crowns in the last two seasons.

Zaha re-joins Crystal Palace on permanent deal
Wilfried Zaha has left Manchester United after completing a permanent transfer back to Crystal Palace for a reported fee of £3 million.
The winger, who was Sir Alex Ferguson's final signing at Old Trafford, has been on loan at Selhurst Park in the first half of the season, scoring one goal in 19 games.
The England international, who cost United £15m two years ago, only made four appearances for them and never started a league game.
He becomes Palace's fifth winter signing after on-loan Yaya Sanogo, Jordon Mutch, Shola Ameobi and Pape Souare.
The 22-year-old joins on a five and a half year contract for an undisclosed fee, making his loan move from the Red Devils to Palace, agreed in August, now permanent.
"I wasn't getting much game time at Manchester United so took the opportunity of coming back on loan this season." Zaha said. "To now have the chance to make the move permanent and come home to Selhurst Park is something I'm delighted about.
"I started playing here when I was eight years of age and my family live local and to have the opportunity to take the field in the Premier League for this club is a dream come true."
Zaha said last month: "When I am here, I feel more confident. I have lived in south London all my life and my family is here. I cannot keep that in my head all the time because I could have another move, but Crystal Palace is my home."
